Welcome to the Alan Sasan Project
A flagship upstream exploration and development venture operated by KAR OG Alan–Sasan DMCC in partnership with the North Oil Company (NOC) under Iraq’s Exploration, Development and Production Contract (EPDC).
About the Project
The Alan–Sasan concession comprises two blocks — Alan and Sasan — located northwest of Mosul in the Nineveh Governorate. The Alan Block covers approximately 162 km², while the Sasan Block spans about 197 km², totaling 329 km² of contract area.
Under the EPDC framework, KAR OG Alan–Sasan DMCC is responsible for exploration, appraisal, and development activities in close collaboration with national stakeholders to ensure efficient, safe, and environmentally responsible operations.
Legacy of Leadership and Timeline
Since the signing of the Alan–Sasan Contract in 2024, KAR Group has demonstrated that Iraqi private-sector expertise can perform to world-class standards — delivering complex projects with technical precision and national pride. Project Timeline and Milestones:
- 2024 – Contract signing under Iraq’s Fifth-Plus Licensing Round.
- 2025 – Technical workshops and data review with NOC and OEC.
- 2026 – 2D & 3D seismic acquisition and environmental baseline surveys.
- 2027 – Appraisal drilling and reservoir evaluation.
- 2028–2029 – Development plan and infrastructure implementation.
